When you think of Nice, theatre is definitely not the first thing that comes to you mind. However it's a great opportunity to discover the unknown.
Khaled Youssef, my friend photographer and poet, known to you after interview on my blog and famous for his international photography project "Travel through the lens of Bubbles" represented via exhibitions all over the world, has visited National Theatre of Nice and prepared shared his great impressions.
More than a new wave, it's a kind of revolution in the National Theatre of Nice.
- We are trying to give another soul to this theatre, we need people to feel at home, to come easily and to share love of theatre with us, said Irina Brook, the Director of the "Hov Show" performance that takes is currently performed in the theatre till Saturday, November, 7. The new manager of TNN is looking for the way to connect the theatre with the city, all the city.
It's important to represent new talents not diminishing the classic theatre, talking about actual subjects... And nowadays "it's getting even more important to see real people acting, feeling and sharing the emotions with all technology progress and virtual life influence", explains Irina.
"Hov Show": explosion of energy.
"Hov Show" is a great example of how Art is never disconnected with Life. Here is a distinguished auto-biographic one-man-show, Hovnatan Avédikian tells a story, or even many stories: spots of his life, various but connected, from his Armenian origins to his artistic and sentimental experience. With humour and sensitivity, we follow him with all our senses, with our laughs and smiles through this journey in his memories.
Personal experience? Not that much finally, because "Hov" brings us to themes which are more universal; origins, integration, societies, art, family and loneliness. The author and actor use his experience to make us smile.
Of course these human emotions and values will touch us in our own life, nothing really strange about it... He's offering to his public the details of his human being's way which is the only way we go through together continuously and finding coincidences making the beauty of discovery.
He tells his story fluently with his voice, his face and his body; everything is moving during the show, with simple and beautiful decorations and lights, like a room which could be his place or our place, Hovnatan explodes his overflowing energy in rays of happiness.
"I switched from a hero's life to an absolute failure..." he says.
We don't agree with this point, even if it's ironic, Hovnatan is a hero of his life, may be a hero of the theatre... But he is, for sure, the Hero of the heart of spectators.
